چکیده

Steady state and transient response analysis for an HIV/AIDS model will be conducted in order to determine the extent to which the viral load is suppressible. Results indicate that viral dynamics, before and after the initiation of therapy, are oscillatory, and as such, the viral load will transiently oscillate before settling to some on treatment steady state. Conditions that are conducive to the attainment of “maximal and durable suppression of viral load” will be outlined. This study also provides some insight on the issue of recurrent viral load blips. The effect of treatment when initialized at various stages of the infection progression will be demonstrated.

MAXIMAL PRYM VARIETY AND MAXIMAL MORPHISM

We investigated maximal Prym varieties on finite fields by attaining their upper bounds on the number of rational points. This concept gave us a motivation for defining a generalized definition of maximal curves i.e. maximal morphisms. By MAGMA, we give some non-trivial examples of maximal morphisms that results in non-trivial examples of maximal Prym varieties.

Durable Suppression of HIV-1 after Virologic Monitoring-Based Antiretroviral Adherence Counseling in Rakai, Uganda

OBJECTIVES HIV viral load is recommended for monitoring antiretroviral treatment and identifying treatment failure. We assessed the durability of viral suppression after viral load-triggered adherence counseling among patients with HIV viremia 6 months after ART initiation. DESIGN Observational cohort enrolled in an antiretroviral treatment program in rural Uganda. METHODS Participants who ...

Assessment of HTLV-I proviral load, HIV viral load and CD4 T cell count in infected subjects; with an emphasis on viral replication in co-infection

Objective(s): HTLV-I and HIV virus quantification is an important marker for assessment of virus activities. Since there is a direct relationship between the number of virus and disease progression, HTLV- I and HIV co-infection might have an influence on the development of viral associated diseases, thus, viral replication of these viruses and co-infection were evaluated.   Materials and...

Long‐term viral suppression and immune recovery during first‐line antiretroviral therapy: a study of an HIV‐infected adult cohort in Hanoi, Vietnam

INTRODUCTION Achieving viral suppression is key in the global strategy to end the HIV epidemic. However, the levels of viral suppression have yet to be described in many resource-limited settings. METHODS We investigated the time to virologic failure (VF; defined as a viral load of ≥1000 copies/ml) and changes in CD4 counts since starting antiretroviral therapy (ART) in a cohort of HIV-infect...

The Relationship between Hepatitis C Genotypes and Viral Load: a study on hepatitis C patients in Kerman, Iran using Real-time PCR

Abstract Background: Distribution of hepatitis C virus genotypes varies geographically and can be associated with clinical aspects. The virus has six major genotypes and eleven sub-genotypes. According to the recent studies, in hepatitis C patients, treatment duration and ribavirin dosage should be determined based on the type of virus genotype. Be...
